Shantung silk is of medium weight.  It is hand woven and hand dyed with a textured "nubby" look.  It has a natural sheen and a bright lustre.  Shantung is useful for tailored garments, dresses, trousers, suits and skirts as well as soft furnishings.

Silk is a natural fibre and variations and irregularities in the weave are characteristics of the fabric and are desirable, that is the nature of 100% silk fabric.
